About CaSkade

CaSkade is a framework that consolidates a series of actvities in the field of capability and skill-based manufacturing automation. Over the past five years, scientists at the Institute of Automation Technology of Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg have researched models and methods and developed software solutions. Parts of CaSkade were created and evaluated in several projects with multiple industry partners.

People

The individual components of CaSkade are currently developed by Aljosha Köcher and Luis Miguel Vieira da Silva.

Aljosha Köcher

Aljosha is a research group leader at Helmut Schmidt University's Institute of Automation. His research group focuses on information models, particularly using Semantic Web Technologies such as OWL ontologies. Aljosha's research revolves around capabilities and skills for manufacturing applications. He participates in a working group of Plattform Industrie 4.0 aiming to define a reference model of capabilities and skills.

Like Aljosha, Miguel is a researcher at Helmut Schmidt University's Institute of Automation. He uses capabilities and skills to describe and implement functions of autonomous robots in industrial automation using semantic web technologies. In particular, Miguel's research revolves around automated planning of arbitrary tasks of autonomous robots.
